Acceptable Use and Content Policy

This policy is part of the terms of use. It applies to everyone who uses Book Recommendations, and to anything you send us or post, including comments, reviews, testimonials, form messages, file uploads and support requests.

What you may not do

• Break the law, or use the site to help anyone else do so.
• Post, send or link to content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, exploits children in any way, promotes violence or self-harm, or targets a person for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or nationality.
• Post anything that infringes copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights, or that you do not have the right to share. See the copyright and DMCA policy.
• Impersonate a person or company, give false information about who you are, or mislead people about a product, service or offer.
• Send spam, chain messages, bulk or unsolicited promotions, affiliate or referral spam, phishing or scams, or post links whose purpose is to promote your own site or product.
• Upload or link to viruses, malware or code that damages, intercepts or takes over systems or data.
• Scan, probe, attack, overload, reverse-engineer or try to get around the security of the site, the dashboard or the forms, or access areas you are not allowed in.
• Scrape or copy the site at a volume or speed that harms it, or copy whole articles or tools without permission.
• Create fake accounts, fake reviews or fake endorsements, or pay for or trade reviews in a way the law forbids.
• Click on or interfere with ads, or create artificial traffic, impressions or clicks. See the advertising integrity rules.
• Collect other users' personal data without a lawful reason, or use the site to build lists for marketing.

Content you submit

• You are responsible for what you submit and promise that you have the right to submit it.
• You keep ownership. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and adapt it as needed to run the site and, for reviews or testimonials you choose to publish, to show them on the site and in our marketing, for as long as they stay on the site. You may ask us to remove them.
• Reviews and testimonials must come from real customers and honest experience. If you received something free or were paid, you must say so.
• Do not include sensitive personal details (such as health, financial account or ID numbers) in comments or messages.
• We do not check everything before it appears and do not endorse what users say. Opinions in comments are the commenter's, not ours.

Standards for our own content

We hold the pages we publish to these standards, which also match the policies of the advertising and affiliate programmes we use:

• Our content is original, useful and meant for people first. We do not publish pages made only to show ads or links.
• We do not publish content that is illegal, hateful, violent, adult, dangerous, shocking, or that promotes hacking, malware, counterfeit goods, weapons, illegal drugs, gambling or other restricted products, and we do not publish deceptive claims, fake news or manipulated media.
• We do not copy text or images without a licence or permission, and we credit sources.
• We do not make misleading earnings, health or "get rich" claims. See the disclaimer.
• We label advertising, affiliate links and sponsored content. See the advertising policy and affiliate disclosure.
• We do not place ads on login, account, checkout or form pages, or on pages that have no real content.

Moderation and enforcement

We may review, edit, refuse, hide or remove content, block messages or accounts, and report unlawful activity to the authorities, at any time, with or without notice, if we think this policy or the law has been broken or to protect the site, its visitors or others. We may do this without refund where the breach is serious. Not removing something does not mean we approve of it.
