Editorial Policy
How we research, write, check, update and correct what we publish, and how the site pays for itself.
Authors use our numbers to price books and prepare files, so a wrong figure costs real money. These are the rules we follow to avoid that.
Our standards
- Official sources first. Platform figures, limits and rules come from the platform's own help pages, never from forums or memory. Each one is stored with its source link and the date we checked it.
- Honest about gaps. If a rule is only reported by the author community, we say it is unconfirmed. If a platform publishes no formula, we ask you for its own quote.
- Worked examples you can verify. Where possible we use the platform's own examples, so you can reproduce the result by hand.
- No invented data. We do not make up statistics, studies, reviews, quotes or credentials. A claim we cannot source is removed.
- Plain language. We write short sentences and explain terms the first time they appear.
How an article is made
- We pick a question authors actually ask, such as "what will KDP charge to print my book?".
- We read the platform's current help pages and note the figures and their URLs.
- We write the guide with a quick answer first, then the detail, examples and common mistakes.
- A second pass checks every number, link and calculation against the source and against our own calculators.
- We publish with the date, and show the date of the last update.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI writing tools to help draft or edit text. AI output is never published as it is: a person checks every factual claim against the official source, runs every calculation, and edits the wording before publication. Tools such as the calculators use fixed formulas written by us, not AI-generated answers.
Keeping content up to date
Platform rules change. We re-check the data file behind the tools and review published guides on a regular schedule (at least every six months), and sooner when a platform announces a change. Each tool shows the date its rules were last checked, and each article shows when it was last updated.
Corrections
If you spot an error, tell us with the page, the figure you expected and the source. We check it against the official page, fix confirmed errors quickly and note significant corrections on the article.
Independence and advertising
Book Recommendations is independent. No platform pays us, and no platform reviews our content before it is published. The tools are free. We may show advertising from Google AdSense and from any other third-party advertising network, exchange or advertiser to cover hosting and development costs, and we may promote the site through our own campaigns on search engines and social networks.
- Ads never shape the content. Advertisers and ad networks do not see, approve or influence articles, calculations, rankings or recommendations, and no ad changes a figure.
- Ads are clearly separate. Ads are labelled "Advertisement" and kept apart from the content. Ads are chosen and served by the ad network, not written by us.
- Affiliate links are disclosed. If a link earns us a commission, we say so on the page, and it does not change what we recommend.
- No paid reviews. We do not publish paid reviews or undisclosed sponsored articles. Where we accept sponsored posts, guest posts or direct sponsorships, they are clearly labelled as sponsored at the top, keep paid links marked
rel="sponsored", meet the same accuracy rules as our own articles, and are covered by the advertising and sponsorship terms. We may edit or refuse them. - Ad quality. We try to keep misleading, harmful or intrusive ads away from readers, and we act on reports. See the advertising policy for the full rules and how to report an ad.
Who writes the content
Articles are written by the Book Recommendations Team. Our about page explains who we are and why we built the site.
