The two royalty options
The 35% option pays 35% of your list price and has no delivery fee. The 70% option pays 70% of your list price after the delivery fee for your file size is subtracted, and it applies only when the list price sits inside the band for the marketplace. Outside the band only the 35% option is available.

How file size changes the 70% royalty
The delivery fee grows with file size, so image-heavy ebooks can earn more on the 35% option. At $4.99 the 70% option stops paying more once the file passes about 16.6 MB.

Keep the ebook cheaper than your print book
For the 70% option KDP expects the ebook price to be at least 20% below the lowest list price of your print edition. If your cheapest print edition lists at $14.99, price the ebook at $11.99 or less. Our calculator warns you when the ebook price is too close to the print price.

- Taxes, currency conversion and later rule changes can make a payment differ slightly.
Frequently asked questions
What price range gets the 70% ebook royalty on Amazon.com?
In our data the 70% option needs a list price from $2.99 to $12.99 (effective 2026-07-07). Outside that band only the 35% option applies.
How much do I earn on a $4.99 ebook?
With a 1 MB file, the 70% option pays $3.39 per copy after a $0.15 delivery fee, and the 35% option pays $1.75.
How does the delivery fee work?
On Amazon.com KDP deducts $0.15 per MB of file size from the list price before it applies the 70% rate. A 1 MB file costs $0.15 and a 10 MB file costs $1.50.
Why does a $13.99 ebook earn less than a $12.99 ebook?

Do the UK and EU marketplaces use the same price band?
